Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required; graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent. Online Surgical Tech program credits will not be accepted.
• Previous Surgical Technologist experience is preferred.
• Current Surgical Tech Certification is preferred.
• New graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire; complete skill validation and competency testing.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care while complying with policies and regulatory standards.
• Maintains clinical and professional surgical services competencies.
• Maintains the security of medications.
• Communicates effectively with team and patients.
• Preps room, handles sterile technique, passes instruments to the surgeon during procedures.
• Sets up sterile table, gowns, gloves, and equipment needed for procedures.
• Performs counts and assists in draping the sterile field.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization and assists in room cleaning for the next patient.
• All other duties as assigned.
