Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the M3W Surgical Stepdown unit. The 24-hour schedule (days, every other weekend) supports a fast-paced care environment where bedside clinical and support services are delivered under RN supervision.

You will participate in direct patient care, assist with vital signs, hygiene, and comfort, and collaborate with the health care team to meet patient and family needs while upholding our commitment to exceptional, equitable care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS/CPR certification required (must be current or obtained within 30 days).
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic math and computer proficiency required.
• One of: PCT experience in acute hospital, nursing program rotations, PCT training, certified medical assistant training, or EMT/field medic experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient care interventions for Critical Care patients and families.
• Provide clinical services including vital signs, bathing, feeding, wound care, hygiene, and emotional support.
• Maintain safe, clean, and well-equipped environment in the Critical Care unit.
• Support efficient operation and contribute to quality patient/family outcomes.
