Job summary

UCI Health in Orange and Irvine seeks a Nursing Assistant to support professional nursing staff by performing vital sign measurements, hygiene assistance, and unit safety. You will help stock supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed, while handling light clerical tasks.

Candidates should have basic medical terminology, English fluency, and BLS; CNA or LVN certification or enrollment in a nursing program is required. Weekend and holiday shifts are expected.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be Certified Nurses Assist., Licensed Vocational Nurse, or enrolled in accredited nursing prog. with completion of at least 1 clinical semester.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA).
• Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist patients with hygiene and elimination.
• Maintain a clean and safe unit environment.
• Assist with stocking unit supplies.
• Operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks.
• Assist with other related duties as assigned.
