Job summary

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for day and night shifts in the Surgical Specialty Unit (6 Green/Blue). The RN II will provide pre- and post-surgical nursing care in a high-volume inpatient setting and collaborate with physicians, residents, and students.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing program; must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• 1 year of RN experience; specialty areas may require more experience.
• TX RN license (or NLC/BNE) and BLS certification are required.
• BSN preferred; professional certification encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments for patients.
• Develop and implement an appropriate care plan with the interdisciplinary team.
• Prioritize interventions; monitor changes in condition and adjust plan accordingly.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team; educate as needed.
• Contribute to quality and safety initiatives and participate in unit-based committees.
