Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks an experienced RN for the Surgical ICU, a high-acuity unit caring for diverse surgical patients. The role emphasizes precise assessments, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective care.

The position requires a current Texas RN license with BLS/ACLS; NIHSS certification is preferred. You will work nights (7pm–7am) including weekends/holidays and may receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program.
• Experience: One (1) year in critical care or ICU.
• Current Texas RN license or multistate license via NLC with BLS/ACLS.
• NIHSS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs and documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments.
• Anticipates patient/family needs and develops a care plan.
• Identifies and implements nursing interventions; coordinates care with the team.
• Prioritizes interventions and reports changes in condition promptly.
• Documents interventions and plan of care; adheres to policies and standards.
• Provides education to patients and families; communicates clearly.
• Welcome/orient patients and families; participates in daily rounds and goal setting.

Education

Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
