Job summary

KAISER is seeking a Department Technician in Honolulu, Hawaii to support perioperative processes and patient care. The role involves assisting with preoperative admission, intraoperative coordination, and postoperative discharge activities, while ensuring patient safety and effective communication with families.

Responsibilities include admitting patients for preoperative prep, coordinating test needs, and assisting with recovery phases.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience in healthcare setting or equivalent training.
  • High school diploma or equivalent related experience.
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) required.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability and attention to detail essential.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates admission of patients and preoperative preparation.
  • Reviews orders and pre/post-operative requirements for tests and transfers.
  • Coordinates patient arrival and informs on surgery times and delays.
  • Assists with tests and procedures (EKG, glucose, prep, monitoring).
  • Assists with activities of daily living and patient care needs.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and clean work environment.
  • Interacts with patients and families, offers information and directions.
  • Transports patients and coordinates with departments for care flow.
  • Maintains census boards and coordinates bed assignments.
  • Operates computer systems for orders, inquiries, and records.
