Job summary

KAISER is seeking a Department Technician in Honolulu, Hawaii to support perioperative processes and patient care. Responsibilities include admitting patients for preoperative prep, coordinating test needs, and assisting with recovery phases.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in healthcare setting or equivalent training.
• High school diploma or equivalent related experience.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) required.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Adaptability and attention to detail essential.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates admission of patients and preoperative preparation.
• Reviews orders and pre/post-operative requirements for tests and transfers.
• Coordinates patient arrival and informs on surgery times and delays.
• Assists with tests and procedures (EKG, glucose, prep, monitoring).
• Assists with activities of daily living and patient care needs.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and clean work environment.
• Interacts with patients and families, offers information and directions.
• Transports patients and coordinates with departments for care flow.
• Maintains census boards and coordinates bed assignments.
• Operates computer systems for orders, inquiries, and records.
