Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician. The role involves scrubbing in for surgical procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining sterile technique throughout cases.

The individual will assist with patient care activities, uphold safety and confidentiality standards, and coordinate with nursing and surgical staff to ensure smooth procedure flow.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved surgical technologist program.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification: NBSTSA Surgical Technologist or NCCT Technologist in Surgery.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Scrub during surgical procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
• Assist with instrument handling, tissue sample collection, and suturing as directed by the surgeon.
• Maintain patient safety and confidentiality; leverage the chain of command for issue escalation.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to the RN or physician.
• Prepare room and equipment per protocol and ensure sterilization standards are met.
• Transport supplies and specimens with proper body mechanics and safety.
• Provide professional, courteous service to patients and family members.
