Columbus Regional Healthcare System is seeking an OR scheduling/clerical support role in Whiteville, NC. The professional will handle scheduling, data collection and communication to streamline the surgery process while ensuring equipment sterilization and inventory accuracy.

The candidate should have a high school diploma, strong medical terminology knowledge and computer skills, with BLS due within three months and sterile processing certification within a year. Shift: 7:30am–4:00pm.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Broad knowledge of medical terminology and surgical terminology/equipment.
• Proficient with basic computer applications and office equipment.
• Ability to read instructions and keep simple records/logs.
• Ability to use menu-driven computer software for job tasks.
• BLS certification within 3 months of employment.
• Sterile processing certification within 12 months of hire.
• Preferred: Associate degree and/or 2 years operating room scheduling/clerical experience.

Responsibilities

• Support operating room scheduling and data collection for Surgical Services.
• Communicate information to departments to facilitate the surgery schedule and patient flow.
• Clean, sterilize, assemble, package and distribute patient care equipment and supplies.
• Disinfect, sort and store instruments; assist with instrument repair and inventory.
• Maintain computerized real-time inventory and par levels for Surgical Services and Central Supply.
