Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Transporter to assist in moving patients within the hospital and to various departments. The role requires caring for patient comfort, proper body mechanics, and adherence to safety protocols.

You will also handle equipment collection, cleaning, and documentation of transport statuses. Qualifications include strong communication, customer service experience, and the ability to determine optimal routes inside the facility.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in customer service.
• Safe patient handling training within 1 month of start date.
• Ability to assess equipment for safe operation.
• Ability to determine best hospital routes to destinations.

Responsibilities

• Lift and transport patients using proper body mechanics.
• Transport patients and equipment (belongings, carts, wheelchairs) as needed.
• Notify clinical staff of changes in patient condition or equipment issues.
• Verify patient identity with printed ticket and wristband.
• Track transport assignments in the electronic system (initiated, completed, delayed, or cancelled).
• Collect and return equipment; disinfect and inspect transport equipment.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Possibly collect patient equipment from soiled areas.
• Possibly pick-up and deliver patient medications (excluding controlled substances).
