You will work in a high-demand environment, must have excellent communication, and be able to lift up to 35 pounds. Training for safe patient handling within one month of start date is required.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification must be obtained within 6 months if not already held.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Ability to safely handle patients and equipment and to determine safe routes within the hospital.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds and assist with patient movement.

Responsibilities

• Lift and transport patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds using proper body mechanics.
• Transport patients and related items (belongings, carts, equipment) to destinations.
• Report changes in patient condition to clinical staff promptly.
• Verify patient identification using printed tickets and wristbands.
• Track transport assignments using electronic systems.
• Disinfect and inspect transport equipment; report any repairs needed.
• Maintain patient information confidentiality at all times.
• Possibly collect patient equipment from soiled areas.
• May pick up or deliver non-controlled medications.
