Job summary

Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital Kingwood is seeking a Surgical Technologist dedicated to assisting the surgical team and maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures in the operating room. You will support the circulating nurse, gather supplies, and ensure accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.

Responsibilities include gowning and gloving surgeons, updating physician preference cards, preserving specimen integrity with the surgeon, and upholding HIPAA privacy standards

Qualifications

• Maintains sterile field throughout procedures.
• Supports circulating nurse and surgical team.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments pre- and intra-operatively.
• Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants.
• Keeps physician preference cards accurate/updated.
• Keeps specimens with surgeon and confirms source/name.
• Transports equipment and aids in cleaning/reprocessing of sets.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile field throughout procedures.
• Assist circulating nurse and surgical team as needed.
• Count sponges, needles and instruments pre- and intra-operatively.
• Gown and glove surgeons and assistants.
• Update physician preference cards as required.
• Retain and label specimens for pathology with surgeon.
• Transport and handle equipment; assist in reprocessing of instruments.
• Interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff; maintain privacy per policy.
