Job summary

Qualifications

• Current NBSTSA surgical technologist certification or approved equivalent.
• Active BLS certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent completed.

Responsibilities

• Sets up instruments and equipment using sterile technique.
• Refers to physician preference cards for special needs.
• Ensures all equipment and supplies are ready before procedures.
• Assists with counting sponges, needles, supplies with the RN circulator.
• Passes supplies and aids in suction, irrigation, and specimen handling.
• Maintains sterile field and assists in patient positioning.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization after surgery.
• Maintains sterilization logs and records.
• Performs sterilization of equipment per regulatory standards.
