Job summary

IR Centers is seeking a Medical Receptionist / Surgical Scheduler to welcome patients, check them in, and manage referral calls. You will reach out to referred patients to schedule consultations and procedures promptly and professionally.

You will be the first point of contact, using excellent communication to coordinate appointments, verify demographics and insurance, and work with physicians to align schedules with patient needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of medical scheduling experience.
• English required; bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet callers warmly & provide courteous service.
• Understand the role as the first point of contact for patients at the practice.
• Use sound judgment when handling calls, especially with sensitive medical information.
• Answer calls within three-four rings.
• Accurately schedule appointments and update demographics and insurance information.
• Confirm, cancel, reschedule and update patient appointments as requested.
• Use the EMR system to match physician availability with patient needs and preferences.
• Schedule appointments based on clinic guidelines and specifications.
• Maintain scheduling systems so patient records are accurate and complete.
• Communicate with physicians and staff about patient concerns; escalate system problems to the office manager.
• Complete requests from other medical offices (fax records, etc.).
• Address patient concerns efficiently and professionally.
• Apply customer service principles to keep patients calm and satisfied.
• Perform other clerical duties as assigned by the office manager.
