Job summary

Tucson Medical Center is seeking a full-time Scheduler with prior experience in scheduling, preferably healthcare scheduling. Responsibilities include coordinating non-emergency surgeries, verifying codes, equipment needs, and implants, and training new staff.

Candidate will collaborate with Medical Records and other departments, post charges, and ensure compliance with safety and confidentiality standards. Prior experience in hospital scheduling is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology and scheduling processes.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and procedure documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Schedule non-emergency surgeries by phone, fax, and email including specialty equipment, correct preference card, patient demographics, and implants.
• Check daily surgery schedule for appropriateness of codes, equipment, wording, and anesthesia coverage.
• Run daily reports to verify accuracy of preference cards and equipment; check implant records.
• Coordinate with Medical Records and Professional Staff Services as needed.
• Train new personnel in surgery scheduling and orientation.
• Post charges and work with supply chain to add new items as required.
• Ensure compliance with TMCH safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards.
