Job summary

Baptist Medical Network within Baptist Health System seeks an experienced Medical Assistant with surgery scheduling expertise to support our physician offices in South Texas. You will verify insurance, coordinate preoperative testing, and assist staff with patient care and scheduling.

The role requires a high school diploma/GED, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program, CMA preferred, and CPR certification. Occasional local travel is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred; CPR certification required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a physician office, with prior surgery scheduling strongly preferred.
• Occasional local travel to support other offices.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to mission, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources and related compliance programs.
• Triage surgical candidates as required by physicians.
• Educate patients about planned surgery.
• Verify insurance information in the electronic system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required before surgery.
• Coordinate preoperative testing and clearances with surgeons and hospital protocols.
• Coordinate with hospital personnel for surgery scheduling.
• Manage return appointments and reschedule as necessary.
• Notify manager of patient accounts and insurance issues.
• Assist administrative or clinical staff as needed.
