Job summary

HCA Healthcare, Inc. is seeking an experienced Scheduling Supervisor for the Texas Orthopedic Hospital in Houston.

You will schedule surgical procedures, manage related clerical tasks, and serve as a key liaison between the Director, Medical Staff, and Hospital personnel to ensure accurate data and smooth operations. The role requires proficiency in medical terminology and office software; you will oversee staff coordination and participate in reports and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• College preparation related to office or managerial organization.
• Proficiency in using word processing, computer equipment, and miscellaneous office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Obtains information for scheduling procedures.
• Verifies privileges for practitioners scheduling procedures.
• Transcribes and posts scheduled cases in OR log and scheduling board.
• Prepares daily surgical schedules for distribution.
• Answers calls and routes messages.
• Performs general clerical duties as required.
• Prepares payroll with Timekeeper Central Services.
• Acts as office coordinator for the Director and schedules staff.
• Assists in reports and special projects as needed.
• Distributes correspondence and materials.
• Applies surgical scheduling procedures for accuracy.
• Uses medical terminology in scheduling.
• Coordinates with admitting for accurate admission/insurance data.
• Attends staff meetings as recording secretary when needed.
• Maintains tissue and implant logs and coordinates with buyers.
• Operates office equipment and software including WordPerfect, MS Word, Lotus, Meditech, SMART, Kronos.
• Maintains and orders clerical supplies for surgical services.
• Assists OR Analyst with daily minutes reports.
• Sets priorities under Director guidance.
• Communicates with physicians and hospital staff effectively.
• Escalates problems or concerns to Director/Assistant Director.
