Job summary

You will coordinate preauthorization, testing, and authorizations, support providers, maintain calendars, and produce weekly progress reports to the Service Line Manager. Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and payer requirements is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; minimum five years in medical office
• Knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and preauthorization
• Knowledge of IDX or similar computerized billing system
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
• General understanding of back office operations
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Surgical posting, OR or Orthopaedic experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily surgical scheduling functions and supervise the Surgical Coordinator staff
• Provide onsite supervision, weekly huddles and rounding; answer questions related to scheduling and preauthorization
• Coordinate surgical schedule with providers; arrange testing for surgery
• Submit requests for prior authorization; assist coordinating team as needed
• Submit weekly staff progress reports to the Service line manager
• Ensure cases are scheduled within 1–3 business days and calendars are accurate
• Maintain patient communications and keep documents in the medical record
• Establish guidelines and deadlines for work priorities
