Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in health care
• At least 1 year of experience in surgery scheduling procedures
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team and handle stress

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries using the computer template with relevant information and handle calls from physician offices regarding scheduling
• Answer phone in a pleasant manner and assist physician offices and patients as needed
• Pre-register patients and obtain necessary authorizations prior to surgery; complete paperwork and generate information for scheduling
• Maintain log for cancelled appointments
• Perform clerical duties such as photocopying forms, filing, mailing surveys, and preparing patient charts
• Keep the surgery scheduling area clean and orderly
• Verify all scheduled cases as soon as possible
• Explain payment policies and options to patients as needed
• Document insurance verification in the patient accounts
