Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of medical scheduling or healthcare admin experience preferred.
  • Surgical scheduling experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, and insurance authorization processes.
  • Experience using EMR systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgical procedures aligning with physician availability and patient preferences.
  • Coordinate procedure dates/times/locations with hospitals and surgery centers.
  • Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and referrals prior to scheduling.
  • Educate patients on pre-operative prep, testing, arrival times, and post-op appointments.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality in scheduling processes.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling records within the EMR system.
