Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH seeks a Surgery Scheduler/Prior Authorization Coordinator to coordinate surgical procedures, obtain required insurance authorizations, and support front-desk operations across multiple practice locations.

Responsibilities include scheduling, coordinating with providers and hospitals, processing authorizations, and maintaining accurate records while delivering excellent patient service. The role requires travel between sites and strict HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in medical scheduling, surgical scheduling, prior authorization, patient registration, or a medical-office setting preferred.
• Experience using an electronic health record system, preferably Epic, is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, prior-authorization requirements, and surgical scheduling processes preferred.
• Ability to work at and travel between multiple practice locations.

Responsibilities

• Surgical scheduling of inpatient and outpatient procedures with proper documentation.
• Manage prior authorization requests and verify insurance coverage.
• Maintain and monitor electronic health record work queues daily.
• Provide front-desk coverage at multiple locations and manage patient flow.
• Travel between practice locations as required and ensure HIPAA compliance.
