Job summary

Driscoll Children’s Hospital is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator to manage surgical case scheduling in collaboration with the operating room team. You will verify insurance coverage and secure required authorizations for inpatient and outpatient surgeries, ensuring pre-surgical clearances are obtained.

The role requires coordinating with physicians, nursing staff, and families, while maintaining accurate EPIC EMR data and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two to three years related experience in medical field preferred.
• Experience with EPIC EMR is a plus.
• Ability to coordinate insurance pre-certifications and authorizations.

Responsibilities

• Schedule elective surgical procedures with OR and physicians.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations.
• Coordinate pre-surgical clearances (cardiac, neurological, pulmonology).
• Input data for scheduling and maintain EPIC system.
• Communicate with OR Manager, Scheduler, Nurse Coordinator for issues.
• Assist families with lodging, transportation, and travel letters.
• Cancel or reschedule surgeries as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.
