Job summary

AppleOne is hiring a Medical Scheduler in the Surgery Department in Santa Monica, CA. The role focuses on coordinating surgical scheduling, pre-op and post-op activities, insurance verifications, and authorizations to support the physician team.

The ideal candidate has a HSD/GED, 2 years of surgery scheduling, 1 year of insurance authorizations, and experience with Epic EMR. Prior PSR/MA experience and hospital exposure are a plus; strong communication and patient liaison skills are essential.

Qualifications

• HSD/GED required.
• 2 years of surgery/procedure scheduling experience.
• 1 year of insurance authorizations experience.
• Experience with Epic EMR.
• Must be able to work with insurances to authorize surgery procedures.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical scheduling, pre-op/post-op, insurance verification, authorizations, and required studies.
• Educate patients on procedures, risks, and pre-surgical requirements.
• Serve as primary patient liaison before, during, and after surgery.
• Arrange operating room scheduling, staff coordination, and equipment requests.
• Manage patient inquiries and service recovery; escalate as needed.
• Coordinate referrals, physician correspondence, and related tasks.
• Maintain patient records, demographics, insurance info, and chart prep.
• Collaborate with billing, adjusters, and case managers to ensure accurate documentation.
• Provide concierge-level patient coordination and support as needed.
