Job summary

OrthoArizona in Phoenix is seeking a dedicated Surgical Scheduler to join our fast-growing orthopedic team. You will schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries, and communicate with patients and physicians while maintaining precise records and calendars.

Proficiency with medical terminology and practice management software is required, along with a minimum of one year in medical scheduling and a high school diploma or GED. This role supports multiple clinics and a collaborative workflow.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year of medical scheduling experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with practice management software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify information and update patient records in the medical chart.
• Coordinate equipment, surgical aides, and anesthesia related to surgeries.
• Maintain physician calendars and answer calls promptly.
• Assist in training and orienting new staff.

As a Surgical Scheduler with OrthoArizona, you will get to:

• Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule surgeries.
• Communicate necessary information to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Verify necessary information and records information in patient's medical record.
• Coordinate necessary equipment, surgical assists, and anesthesia relative to surgeries.
• Maintain and updates physician's calendars.
• Answer telephone, screens calls, clears voicemail, returns patient calls in a timely manner.
• Answer questions regarding patient's upcoming surgeries.
• Update patient information.
• Prepare surgical packet materials.
• Assist in training and orienting of new staff.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understand/Perform training on practice management software.
• Continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1-year experience of medical scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience surgery scheduling.
