Responsibilities

  • Interact with patients, physicians and other staff, providing timely and responsive information.
  • Coordinate processes and route all paperwork to meet physician and facility requirements.
  • Initiate and track medical clearances as required by physician or extender.
  • Initiate authorization for procedures, surgeries, ancillary services or medical supplies.
  • Obtain financial estimate for procedures, surgeries, ancillary services and medical supplies.
  • Complete all tasks and orders in a timely manner.
  • Scan internal documents accurately into patients' medical records.
  • Demonstrate courteous and helpfulness toward patients and families.
  • Display flexibility in work schedule depending on clinic needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA; other duties as assigned.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Surgical Scheduler to support an orthopedic surgeon.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • - Coordinate and schedule procedures or surgeries, pre and post op appointments as designated by physicians
  • - Interact with patients, physicians and other staff, both internal and external, providing timely and responsive information
  • - Coordinate processes and route all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements
  • - Initiate and track medical clearances as required by physician or physician extender
  • - Initiate authorization for procedures, surgeries, ancillary services or medical supplies
  • - Obtain financial estimate for procedures, surgeries, ancillary services and medical supplies
  • - Complete all tasks and orders in a timely manner
  • - Scan internal documents accurately into patients medical record
  • - Demonstrate courteous and helpfulness toward patients and their families
  • - Display flexibility in work schedule dependent on clinic needs
  • - Other duties as assigned
  • - Maintains strictest confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA compliance
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification/Licensure: Not required

  • - Competent use of computer systems, software and 10-key calculators

  • - Experience with customer service
  • - Familiarity with computers and other office equipment

Physical Requirements:
  • - Requires occasional lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
