Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator for surgeon appointments and OR logistics. You will work with physicians to gather data needed to schedule surgeries, assign suites, block times, and ensure accurate demographic and billing information in EMR to prevent delays.

This role supports efficient operations by coordinating with Admitting, handling emergencies, and aligning resources with department guidelines. Day shift, Monday–Friday, on-site at Seton Northwest.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

• Works with physician offices to gather information needed to schedule surgeries consistent with department guidelines and accommodating physicians' requests and patients' needs.
• Assigns operating suites and equipment and blocks times to maximize efficient use of resources.
• Ensures that necessary demographic, billing and insurance information is entered into electronic medical records and coordinates with Patient Admitting as needed to prevent delays in scheduled surgery.
• May reschedule surgeries as needed to accommodate emergencies or other unanticipated events.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • None Required.
• Preferred Credential(s):Approved Local Exception. For use with unique Union job requirements only. Remove if not for Union.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
