Job summary

Baystate Noble Hospital is seeking an OR Assistant (ORA) to support perioperative services under RN supervision. The role involves preparing and turnover of OR rooms, assisting with patient transport and positioning, stocking supplies, and maintaining aseptic conditions in the surgical environment.

The ORA will interact with nurses, physicians, surgeons, and other hospital staff, and participate in mandatory in-service training.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide patient care in a perioperative setting.
• Maintain aseptic conditions and infection control.
• Complete mandatory in-service training and competency activities.
• Assist with turnover, stocking, and supply Par levels.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care to patients.
• Maintains safe, aseptic environment and reports safety concerns to RN Circulator.
• Participates in staff development and annual mandatory trainings.
• Maintains supply par levels and communicates needs for supplies.
• Assists in transporting patients and providing equipment to OR suites.
• Assists RN in pre-op and post-op areas and during discharge preparations.
• Positions patients for surgery and assists with securing equipment.
• Sets up OR rooms and equipment for procedures and trauma cases as needed.
• Ensures oxygen tanks are available and secured for transport.
• Performs room turnover between cases using aseptic technique and standard process.
