Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking an OR technician to support the perioperative team, aiding the nurse, anesthesiologist and surgeon in patient care across all surgical specialties. You will transport patients, help position and align them, and ensure the operating room is prepared and maintained under aseptic guidelines.

The role requires basic knowledge of operating room procedures, safety protocols and infection control, with preference for experience in acute care settings.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with ability to provide care across patient lifespan.
• Experience with acute care/patient handling is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist perioperative nurse, anesthesiologist and surgeon in patient care and positioning.
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room and PACU with safe handling.
• Maintain OR readiness and aseptic technique; prepare and set up instruments and supplies.
• Assist in obtaining and changing gas cylinders; support orthopedic and neurology positioning and x-ray procedures.
• Ensure safety, infection control, and adherence to department policies.
