Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support perioperative teams. The role assists the surgeon with retracting and basic patient care, aids in room preparation, and helps maintain sterile fields throughout procedures.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, about one year of related clinical experience, and AED knowledge. The position is 40 hours per week with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
• Experience: One year as a Patient Care Assistant or Nursing Assistant preferred.
• AED knowledge required (AHA Heart saver AED).

Responsibilities

• Assists in surgery with retracting, lifting, positioning, and holding body parts as needed.
• Maintains sterile field and assists physicians and nurses in the operating room.
• Transfers patients safely and supports turnover and readiness of the perioperative areas.
• Prepares stretchers, beds and patients in pre-op and post-op areas.
• Practices aseptic technique and follows universal precautions.
