Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Assistant to support the surgical team under the Nurse Manager Perioperative. You will assist the surgeon, help with retracting, positioning, and maintaining sterile fields during orthopedic and other surgeries, and prepare rooms and equipment before, during, and after cases.

This full-time role at Capital Health includes 40 hours weekly, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: One year as Patient Care Assistant or related clinical role preferred.
• Other Credentials: AHA Heart Saver AED certification.
• Knowledge & Skills: Interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Special Training: Ability to work in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
• Usual Work Day: 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Assists in surgery with retracting, lifting, positioning, and holding body parts.
• Maintains sterile field and assists during procedures.
• Prepares operating rooms, stretchers, and supplies; ensures readiness for next case.
• Transports patients and monitors during perioperative phases.
• Follows universal precautions and infection control standards.
