Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Oregon seeks an RN First Assistant (RNFA) to support the surgical team during intra-operative phases of care for the Northwest Surgical Services region. The role collaborates with the surgeon and health care team to assess, plan, direct, provide and evaluate advanced peri-operative nursing care.

All RNFAs participate in regional on-call rotation for elective, emergent and urgent cases. Required qualifications include prior peri-operative scrub and circulating experience and

Qualifications

• Minimum two (2) years of peri-operative scrubbing and circulating experience in a KP OR or one (1) year experience as an RNFA in or outside of KP.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team intra-operatively according to AORN standards, providing knowledge-based technical assistance during procedures.
• Assist with room preparation, draping, instrument setup, and coordination with Circulating Nurse and scrub person to maintain sterile technique.
• Post-operative patient evaluation and coordination per facility protocols, ensuring safe transfer and recovery.
