Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Oregon seeks an experienced RN First Assistant (RNFA) to support the surgical team across the Northwest Region Ambulatory Surgery Centers. This role involves intra-operative scrubbing, circulating duties, patient positioning, instrument handling, and collaboration with surgeons to deliver safe, efficient procedures.

The RNFA will perform according to AORN standards, maintain sterile technique, manage equipment, and participate in pre/post-operative activity to ensure

Qualifications

• Two years of intra-operative scrubbing and circulating experience.
• One year of recent RNFA experience or completion of a CCI RNFA course with ASC agreement.
• Oregon RN license, ACLS, BLS, and OR certification as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in pre-operative planning and coordination with the surgical team.
• Provide knowledge-based technical assistance during operative procedures per AORN standards.
• Handle instruments and devices, provide hemostasis, and assist with suturing as directed.
• Support post-operative care including patient transfer and room turnover.
• Maintain sterile technique and equipment readiness throughout cases.
