Job summary

SSM Health is seeking a Registered Nurse First Assistant to support surgeons before, during, and after procedures. The role requires an RN with an RNFA program or RNFA equivalency and at least two years in advanced surgical specialties. BLS HCP, RN license, and CNOR credentials are preferred.

This position is based at the ASC OPC-K facility in Missouri, with day-shift hours and a focus on patient safety. As part of a comprehensive team, you will assist with positioning, exposure, hemostasis,

Qualifications

• Completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN standards for RN first assistant education program or RNFA education equivalency for CRNFA.
• Two years' registered nurse experience in an advanced surgical specialty.
• Current Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification and RN license as per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
• Implements physicians orders to visualize the operative site using appropriate methods, including tissue manipulation, retraction, suctioning and irrigation.
• Assists with achieving temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Supports wound dressings and drainage systems as part of postoperative care.
• Applies evidence-based nursing practice to meet patient age-specific and clinical needs within the department scope.
• Maintains alertness and safety in all tasks.
