Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an experienced RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons in a variety of operative procedures. You will participate in preoperative assessment, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative care, ensuring patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.

The role requires active RN licensure, CNOR and BLS certifications, and at least 2 years in perioperative nursing. You will collaborate with the OR team, manage supplies, monitor vitals, and contribute to patient and family

Qualifications

• Active RN license (IDFPR or applicable state board) and CNOR certification.
• Completion of an accredited RNFA program.
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries and ensure necessary trays, instrumentation and supplies are ready.
• Provide patient care and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Administer medications and perform intraoperative nursing tasks (bleeding control, suturing, draping, tissue handling).
• Scrub and circulate based on unit needs and assist in room turnover.
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare, and communicate patient health status to family.
