Job summary

Manchester Memorial Hospital, Inc. in Connecticut is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct and indirect patient-centered care within the surgical services setting. You will coordinate patient care with the interdisciplinary team and families, communicating changes in condition as needed.

The role requires a CT RN license, CPR certification upon hire, and experience in surgical or labor and delivery, especially assisting with C-sections. 3x12 shift pattern with 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing and have and maintain current a Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.
• Must have CPR certification upon hire.
• Experience in surgical or labor and delivery, specifically assisting with C-sections, is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform population-specific comprehensive assessments and re-assessments and collaborate with the surgical team to define and evaluate an individualized plan of care.
• Follow the five medication rights and ensure safe administration customized to patient age and condition; adhere to Surgical Services policy for medication safety.
• Document the nursing process and responses to care promptly using appropriate tools.
• Communicate patient condition effectively to the team; respond quickly to changes in condition or treatment response.
• Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan with knowledge of growth and development.
• Ensure room is prepared for procedures with anticipated instruments and supplies; maintain aseptic technique and communicate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
• Demonstrate flexible, organized performance under stress and exercise sound judgment in priority setting.
• Show autonomous practice aligned with evidence-based standards and pursue ongoing professional growth.
• Coordinate care by working with interdisciplinary teams and families.
• Report to the Clinical Nurse Manager and support the professional practice of nursing.
