Job summary

Indiana University Health System's Regional Academic Health Center in Bloomington seeks a Surgical Technologist for a full-time day shift. On-call coverage includes two weekend shifts every six weeks (Fri end of shift to Mon 7:00 AM) and two weekday overnight call shifts.

The role supports the surgical team, ensuring correct equipment and sterile field before, during, and after procedures, working with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to facilitate patient care.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma/GED.
• Requires NBSTSA certification as Surgical Technologist.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification.
• Requires 17 CEUs annually.
• Requires Preceptor training or equivalent.
• Requires minimum 1 year experience as a Skilled Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the OR prior to each operation.
• Assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards.
• Assist in turnover of the operating room after procedures, including processing of specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
• Work as part of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, RNs and other surgical personnel.
