Job summary

Indiana University Health's Regional Academic Health Center in Bloomington is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join a dynamic surgical team. The role supports pre- and postoperative activities, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses in a high-volume OR setting.

The position is full-time with 4 shifts of 10 hours from 7:00am to 5:30pm, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) within four months of employment.
• Basic Life Support Certification.
• Ability to resource advanced technology.
• 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate needs and recognize problems within 12 months of employment.
• Knowledge of names and functions of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Strict adherence to sterile field policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assists in ensuring presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation.
• Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards.
• Assists in turnover of the operating room after procedures, ensuring proper routing and processing of specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
• Acts as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.
