Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Regional Academic Health Center in Bloomington. This full-time day shift role includes on-call coverage and two weekend shifts every six weeks, plus two weekday overnight shifts as part of on-call duties.

The position supports surgical procedures, ensuring proper instrument availability, sterile technique, and coordination with the operating room team to optimize patient care and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• 17 continuing education units annually required.
• Preceptor training or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 1 year of Skilled Technologist experience or relevant experience required.
• Ability to assist and coordinate with staff using advanced technology and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and arrange surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation.
• Assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by standards.
• Support turnover of the operating room after procedures, including specimen handling and equipment processing.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other surgical staff.
