Job summary

Indiana University Health's Regional Academic Health Center in Bloomington is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a full-time day shift. The role supports the operating room team and ensures proper setup of instruments and supplies for each procedure.

On-call coverage is required, including two weekend shifts every six weeks and two weekday overnight call shifts weekly. You will work with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to maintain sterile conditions and efficient OR turnover.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma/GED.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) is required.
• Basic Life Support Certification required.
• Requires 17 continuing education units annually.
• Requires 1 year of experience as a Skilled Technologist or related role.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments and their functions; sterile technique mandatory.
• Ability to support the surgical team and operate with surgeons and anesthesiologists.
• Completion of Preceptor training or equivalent modules per Advancement Process.

Responsibilities

• Assist in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation.
• Assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by standards.
• Assist in turnover of the operating room after procedures and ensure proper handling of specimens and equipment.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.
