Job summary

Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, MN seeks a Pathologist Assistant to support surgical pathology from accessioning to histologic sampling, under a pathologist's supervision. The role involves gross examination, dissection, and intraoperative pathology coordination.

The position requires an Associate degree in a related field with preferred histology experience, ability to work at the site, and strong English communication. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in science, laboratory science, medical laboratory technology, or related field.
• Previous experience in surgical pathology or histology preferred; on-the-job training may be provided.
• Must pass pre-employment health screening.
• Must be able to report to the work site as scheduled.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

• Receive, verify, accession, and handle surgical pathology specimens per procedures.
• Perform gross examination, dissection, and documentation for histologic evaluation.
• Provide intraoperative pathology support, including frozen section preparation.
• Assist with tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide prep.
• Manage specimen storage, retention, disposal, and recordkeeping per regulatory requirements.
• Serve as liaison between pathology, physicians, nurses, labs, and other departments.
• Uphold QA/QC, equipment maintenance, training, and process improvement.
