Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Pathology Assistant to assist pathologists with a full range of specimen processing, grossing, and histologic sampling. You will supervise entry-level residents, perform intra-operative consultations, and help coordinate tissue sample collection for research. Experience in pathology is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Pathology setting preferred.
• Master’s degree from an accredited Pathologist Assistant program is required for a Pathology Assistant if not a physician.
• Licensed physician with greater than 5 years’ experience in Grossing will be considered in lieu of accredited Pathology Assistant program graduates.

Responsibilities

• Assist pathologists with accessioning, dissection, description, and histologic sampling of specimens.
• Supervise and train entry level residents in gross room pathology methods.
• Perform frozen sections and intra-operative consultations per protocol.
• Coordinate tissue specimen acquisition for research.
• Maintain digital image files and ensure specimen photography standards.
• Interact with stakeholders in tissue sample acquisition and sample identification.
