Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to engage in all phases of gross description and dissection of surgical specimens. Under indirect supervision, you will describe gross anatomy, prepare tissue sections, and assist with specimen processing and accessioning.

The role requires a B.S. in Biology or related science with a NAACLS-approved Pathologists’ Assistant Training Program and ASCP certification or eligibility, with certification expected within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Biology or related science with NAACLS Pathologists’ Assistant Training Program completion.
• ASCP certification or eligibility; must certify within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in gross description and dissection of surgical pathology specimens.
• Describe gross anatomic features under indirect supervision of a pathologist; prepare tissue sections including frozen sections when applicable.
• Ensure specimen accessioning and labeling are correct.
• Obtain clinical records, case history, lab data, scans, and X-rays when indicated.
• Photograph specimens as needed.
