Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Per Diem Pathologists’ Assistant to support gross examination, dissection and specimen submission for histologic evaluation in the Histology Laboratory. This role works under supervision of an Anatomic Pathologist and involves gross dissection, photography, and rapid interpretation of selected specimens.

The position requires a BA/BS with NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant training, effective communication with staff and pathologists, and eligibility

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university and successful completion of an NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.
Ability to communicate effectively with laboratory personnel, pathologists, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Gross description and dissection of surgical tissues under supervision of a board-certified Anatomic Pathologist.
Submission and preparation of specimens for histologic testing.
Gross specimen photography and documentation.
Processing of frozen sections and/or touch preparations for rapid interpretation.
Training of new employees as needed.
Technical review and writing of procedures with the Anatomic Pathology Manager.
Participation in organization of conferences and meetings.
Maintenance of equipment and a clean work area.

Baccalaureate degree + NAACLS Pathologists’ Assistant program
