Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant in Plymouth, MA on a per diem basis. You will perform gross examination and dissection of specimens and prepare them for histology analysis, under supervision of a board-certified Anatomic Pathologist.

Required is a BA/BS plus an NAACLS-accredited PA program, with strong communication skills to collaborate with staff, pathologists, and external contacts. CPA/ASCP eligibility is considered. Training and ongoing education are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree and NAACLS PA program completed or in process.
• Effective communication with lab staff, pathologists and external contacts.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross description and dissection of surgical tissues.
• Submit and prepare specimens for histology testing.
• Capture gross specimen photographs.
• Support process improvement in the laboratory.
• Process frozen sections and touch preparations for rapid interpretation.
• Train new employees within scope of practice as necessary.
• Review procedures with the Anatomic Pathology Manager.
• Attend relevant departmental meetings.
• Maintain equipment and keep the work area clean.
• Comply with hospital and laboratory policies.
• Assist in organizing conferences.
