Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Texas is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Surgical Specialty-Operative role who provides direct patient care with prescriptive authority and operates under a supervising physician.

The Advanced Practice Provider sees adult and pediatric patients, performs invasive procedures within scope, and participates in perioperative management, rounds, and hospital/ED coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Grad of an Accredited PA program.
• Experience: Less than 1 year in the field.
• Certification/license: Current Texas license to practice as a Physician Assistant; BLS within 30 days; NCCPA certification.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients and takes medical histories.
• Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory tests.
• Prescribes medications and therapies and performs procedures per policy.
• Formulates and implements patient treatment plans with physician collaboration.
• Counsels patients and families on medications, regimens, and health promotion.
• Keeps comprehensive treatment records and coordinates referrals when needed.
• Provides perioperative management and rounds in hospital or ED settings.
