Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX seeks a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to oversee direct and indirect perioperative care from pre-op to post-op. You will collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, and nursing staff to deliver safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced OR setting.

The role requires Texas RN licensure, ACLS/PALS/TCAR within set timelines, and 1–2 years of OR experience. BSN preferred, with strong communication and cultural sensitivity skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Current Texas RN license in good standing.
• ACLS within 3 months; PALS within 6 months; TCAR within 6 months.
• 1–2 years OR nursing experience in Operating Room preferred.
• Must pass competencies for this position.
• Thorough knowledge of OR nursing and standards preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; English fluency required.
• Able to read, write and speak English; communicate with all levels.
• Sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the surgical suite for procedures.
• Maintain count on sponges, needles and instruments.
• Perform circulating duties with efficiency and speed.
• Supervise and assist scrub technicians as necessary.
• Position patient and prepare operative area.
• Assist surgeons, anesthesiologist, and other personnel as needed.
• Ensure medications are administered and charted.
• Report medication errors promptly.
• Transferring patient to the OR table.
• Adhere to AORN standards and hospital policies.
• Support infection control, safety, and risk programs.
