Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Health Care Technician (HCT) to support licensed nursing staff under RN supervision. The role focuses on personal care and hygiene for an assigned patient group and serves as a liaison across departments to ensure smooth patient flow.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, documenting data, monitoring vital signs, and preparing patients for transport, with emphasis on safety and patient comfort in a high-volume unit.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days (AHA).
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience as CNA within past 24 months.
• Completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program.
• Relevant medical military training may be considered.
• CNA coursework completed within past 24 months.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential.
• At least one semester of nursing clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance of unit supplies, stocking, cleaning instruments, ordering supplies, and charting.
• Collect data on assigned patients and document accurately.
• Demonstrate competency in vital signs, glucose monitoring, and intake/output measurement.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Prepare patients for transportation and assist with admissions/discharges.
• Complete HCT Safety Checklist at shift start and maintain communication with RN.
• Maintain patient safety, fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety.
• Support high-volume admissions/discharges for Observation patients.
