Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Health Care Technician to support licensed nursing staff and care for patients’ personal needs under the supervision of an RN. The role includes communicating with departments, visitors, and the care team, and serving as a liaison for the unit to ensure smooth operations.

Key duties involve assisting with daily living activities, collecting patient data, and maintaining charts while demonstrating competency in vital signs and nursing skills.

Qualifications

• BLS certification within 30 days per AHA guidelines.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• CNA coursework completed within past 24 months and CNA certification obtained.
• At least one nursing clinical experience and prior CNA work within past 24 months.
• Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance of unit supplies, stocking nurse stations, cleaning equipment, ordering supplies, and assembling charts.
• Collect data on assigned patients and document accurately and timely under RN supervision.
• Demonstrates competency in selected psychomotor skills including vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and intake/output.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and prepare for transportation or transport them as needed.
• Support communication – update white boards and participate in hourly rounding; floats within hospital to perform duties as needed.
• Participate with healthcare team to grow the unit and strive for high-quality care.
