Job summary

Carle Health seeks a Health Care Technician to support licensed nursing staff in caring for a patient group in a medical-surgical setting. Under the RN, you will assist with daily living activities, collect data, and document accurately to ensure safe, patient-centered care.

You will help with supplies, safety checks, and timely responses to patient needs, coordinating with departments and staff to maintain a high standard of care.

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days (AHA).
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Relevant medical military training; past CNA within 24 months.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program.
• At least one semester of nursing clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with unit supplies: stocking, cleaning instruments, ordering supplies, and making up charts.
• Collect data on assigned patients and ensure accurate documentation.
• Demonstrate competency in skills: vital signs, glucose monitoring, intake and output.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and transportation preparations.
• Complete HCT Safety Checklist at shift start; communicate tasks with RN.
• Document basic patient care: baths, vital signs, accuchecks, meal trays.
• Maintain patient safety: falls, ulcers, isolation, ambulation; promote a healing environment.
• Support high-volume admissions and discharges for medical-surgical patients.
