Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the General Surgery East team and Surgical/Procedural Service Line. Primary duties include rooming patients, managing flow, injections, and assisting with procedures, while maintaining patient safety and high-quality care.

Role is based at the United Campus and may require occasional travel to Apple Valley Clinic; mileage reimbursement offered, with cross-training opportunities after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description.
• Completed a Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare education program with a similar scope of clinical training.
• Candidates with fewer than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent clinical practicum.
• Preferred: High school diploma or GED; Previous Medical Assistant experience; Medical Terminology.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, manages patient flow and obtains adequate patient medical information/data.
• Performs injections and assists with procedures as delegated by Provider or RN.
• Supports patient care and reinforces patient information regarding tests, labs, procedure preparation, treatment plan, preventative or other health information.
• Coordinates results of tests and procedures with provider or RN; may prepare refill information for provider to review.
• Maintains environment safe for patients, visitors and employees; reports risks and malfunctions.
