Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing staff at Mercy Specialty Center, with 0.8 FTE (64 hours per two-week pay period) and 8-hour day shifts, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with a rotating day off. No weekends; may float to other sites.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting data, administering medications, and EMR documentation. Requires Medical Assistant program completion and current BLS certifications; CMA/CAA credentials strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare education program with similar clinical training.
• Candidates with fewer than six months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent practicum.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, manages patient flow and obtains adequate patient medical information/data.
• Collects and confirms patient information via interview, questionnaires, vital signs and documents in EMR.
• Assists patients with exam prep and provides psycho-emotional support.
• Assists with collection, labeling, and processing of specimens and facilitates lab/imaging results.
• Works with EMR basket, responds to messages, and may cover front desk/registration as needed.
• Performs patient care tasks delegated by Provider or RN and assists with procedures.

Education

Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare education program
